Once again, Chiang Mai University (CMU) has made its mark on Asia’s higher education stage, with three academic and social projects shortlisted across three categories at THE Awards Asia 2026. This achievement demonstrates CMU’s strength in advancing international agendas, supporting students, and promoting sustainable regional development, underscoring its role as a leading institution in Asia.
The first shortlisted project is ‘CMU’s International Strategy: A Multi-Tiered Architecture for Global Impact’ by the International Relations Division. This project highlights CMU’s strategic approach to fostering international collaboration, resulting in MOUs that support sustainable, outcome-driven partnerships from grassroots initiatives to global engagement.
In the Outstanding Support for Students category, the project ‘Token to Care – No Money No Hunger’ by the Student Development Division supports students facing financial hardship by providing digital food coupons. It also connects students with additional assistance, including funding opportunities, accommodation, and employment support.
Shortlisted for Outstanding Contribution to Regional Development is the project ‘SMART BEE SDGs – Enhancing Food Security and Beekeeper Livelihoods in the Mekong Region’ by Associate Professor Dr. Terd Disayathanoowat, Faculty of Science. This project applies academic expertise to promote sustainable development in the Mekong region, strengthening food security and improving beekeeper livelihoods in alignment with the SDGs.
This achievement highlights CMU’s capacity to integrate education, research, innovation, and public service to deliver tangible societal impact. Chiang Mai University continues to advance its vision of becoming a leading Asian institution that generates positive outcomes for society at large.
The announcement of winners and the awards presentation ceremony for THE Awards Asia 2026 will take place on 22 April 2026 in Hong Kong.
