CMU SDGs
On 18 February 2026, the Department of Social Science and Sustainable Development, Faculty of Social Sciences, Chiang Mai University organized an Academic Exchange Seminar entitled “Integrating Social Sciences and Sustainable Development for Environment and Human Life” at the 4th Floor Meeting Room, Operation Building, Faculty of Social Sciences. Approximately 50 participants attended the event. The seminar was held in collaboration with the Bachelor of Arts Program in Social Science and Sustainable Development, Chiang Mai University, and the Department of Human Life and Environmental Science, International Center, Nara Women’s University, Japan. The program began with welcome remarks by Dr. Amporn Jirattikorn, Head of the Department of Social Science and Sustainable Development, followed by a response greeting from Dr. Masahito Ambashi of Nara Women’s University. Undergraduate students from both institutions presented a total of eleven academic papers addressing diverse themes, including tourism and local identity, gender and culture, transnational labor migration, consumer culture, capitalism and inequality, environmental issues, and community building in contemporary societies. The seminar provided a valuable platform for students to present their research, exchange cross-cultural perspectives, and receive constructive feedback from faculty members. The event strengthened international academic collaboration and encouraged the integration of social sciences with environmental and human-centered development in a global context.
