Chiang Mai University President Clinical Professor Niwes Nantachit and Pol Maj. Gen. Direk Thananonniwat, commander of the Forensic Center 5, Office of Forensic Science, Royal Thai Police, along with Professor Prof. Dr. Pongrak Sribunditmongkol, Vice President of Chiang Mai University and Col. Yarnwarut Wangdee, Deputy Commander of the Forensic Center 5, Police Forensics Office, Royal Thai Police signed a memorandum of understanding on academic cooperation on September 23. The purpose of this memorandum of understanding is to promote and support research cooperation and advance the field of forensic science. This includes study visits, personnel development, and training management and to transfer knowledge and best practices to create a modern, academic experience.
Clinical Professor Niwes Nantachit stated: “The cooperation with the Forensics Center 5, will be another step in developing knowledge and creating innovation in forensics and academia which is in line with Chiang Mai University's vision to be a leading university with social responsibility in sustainable development, aligned with community engagement values and a local focus.”
Pol Maj. Gen. Direk Thananonniwat mentioned “I have realized that our forensic science work both academic and professional, can be exchanged for the benefit of study and research. There is an integration between the actual working units and educational institutions with the objective to exchange knowledge, abilities and extend academic work on forensic science to a new dimension.” He also concluded that “This signing will be an auspicious sign for further cooperation for the academic advancement of both sides for the best interest of the country in the future.”
